Complexion
I see a desk
cologne on the table.
A fancy watch,
peseos on a dollar.
I see a mirror
Shaving cream without label.
A brand new razor,
behind a lion’s sculpture.
I see a palm pilot
that was given for Christmas
and books in Spanish,
beside dust they stood.
I see a belt
looking old, filled with flaws.
Yet dependable,
and still looks good.
I see a coat
upon the great king bed
and a missing rack
of plenty of solid tools
I see the end
of an unorganized shed
for the pictures of family
still fulfill love in this ol’ fool.
I see me in him.
Ayer Eternal
